Varuna Vaswani

Varuna Vaswani is a Registered Counsellor (APCPA) working with adults experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, as well as relationships and interpersonal challenges, with a focus on attachment trauma.

Varuna uses an integrated approach combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy along with ACT, Mindfulness and Somatic techniques to address issues on a whole-person level. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in empathy to empower every client in taking charge of their own life.

Varuna’s work goes beyond managing symptoms in the present and toward the root cause of such symptoms, to explore any unresolved wounds and address them. Varuna works with clients in developing the skills and creating the toolkit they need to pave the way for a regulated nervous system, which enables them to make intentional choices to achieve lasting improvements on their overall well-being.

Varuna completed her training at the Christian Action Centre for Refugees and LINK Centre working with the refugee and ethnic minority communities respectively. To date, she provides counselling support to Indonesian domestic workers living in Hong Kong.

Varuna is Indian-Indonesian and has made Hong Kong her home since 2014. She raises two little boys and is steadfast in her commitment to abolish stigma around mental health treatment within Southeast Asian communities.

Varuna conducts counselling sessions in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
