Varuna Vaswani is a counsellor at St. John’s Cathedral Counselling Service in Hong Kong. She is experienced in supporting adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, parenting challenges as well as family and marital problems.
Varuna draws from a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, and Solution Focused Therapy to address her clients’ individual needs. Her approach is warm, open, and collaborative, with the aim of empowering clients with awareness about their actions, thoughts and beliefs & supporting them with the tools they need to work towards their improved well-being.
Varuna holds a Master of Social Sciences in Counselling from The University of Hong Kong and completed her training at Christian Action Centre for Refugees, LINK Centre for ethnic minorities and The University of Hong Kong’s Social Work & Social Administration Department Counselling Unit.
In her spare time, she continues to support the refugee community at Christian Action Centre for Refugees, and shares mental health information on social media to further her goal of breaking the stigma around mental illness in South Asian communities.
Varuna conducts counselling sessions in English and Indonesian.
