Melissa is a Counsellor at St. John’s Cathedral Counselling Service in Hong Kong. Prior to working as a counsellor, Melissa worked as a lawyer and chief compliance officer for more than 20 years in the finance industry. Having lived and worked in various parts of the world, including US, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Melissa is well-acquainted with the way people from different cultures and background react to process life events.
Melissa draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Personal-Centered Therapy, Positive Psychology, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Satir Models, mindfulness strategies to support and cater to her clients’ individual needs. Her approach is warm, open, and collaborative, with the aim of empowering clients with awareness about their actions, thoughts and beliefs and supporting them with the tools they need to improved well-being. She is passionate in working with children, adolescents, adults and elderly population on issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, anger, grieving, self-esteem, perfectionism behaviors, social anxiety, sexuality, relationships and chronic illness.
Melissa also coaches clients on work performance and professional development, senior management role readiness, strengthening interpersonal and soft skills, and other manager skills set.
