Bart’s approach to counselling is deeply enriched by his diverse life experiences. He was previously a business leader in high-performance, multicultural settings and has also spent many years cultivating an extensive meditation practice. This allows him to incorporate elements of empathy, mindfulness, and self-compassion into his counselling approach. Originating from Europe and having resided in Asia for over two decades, Bart possesses an experiential understanding of both Western and Asian cultures. Moreover, his affirmative practice with LGBTQ+ individuals, underscores his commitment to inclusivity and respect for all clients, regardless of their background or identity.
Bart primarily uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a person-centred and experiential approach that empowers clients to lead enriching and meaningful lives in spite of personal adversities. This therapeutic approach has proven particularly beneficial for clients grappling with depression, anxiety, chronic pain, general or post-traumatic stress, and work or relationship difficulties.
With a genuine curiosity, Bart seeks for his clients to understand the underlying causes of their struggles. This understanding facilitates a transformation in their capacity to manage life’s challenges, and rediscover their innate ability to thrive.
Bart conducts therapy in English and is conversational in French, Dutch, German and Spanish.
