Dr. Young has worked extensively with people who have mild to moderate problems (e.g. depression, anxiety and panic disorders, stress and burnout, problematic health behaviours, anger issues, sexuality and identity issues and relationship difficulties). She also has wide experience of working with clients facing unresolved past and present trauma, grief and loss.
Dr. Young’s areas of special interest include: men’s health and well-being; adolescent adjustment; workplace stress and performance; coping with major life transitions; health behaviours and positive ageing.
Dr. Young is trained in cognitive-behavioural, humanistic and psychodynamic models which she uses to tailor a psychologically-informed understanding of client presenting issues and develop a bespoke treatment plan for each person, according to the changes they wish to make. Her approach is strengths-based; exploratory and sensitive; pragmatic, and informed by an over-arching holistic approach to mental and physical well-being.
As a seasoned expat in Asia for the past 25 years, she is well-acquainted with the challenges of cross-cultural adjustments, and working within diverse ethnic and cultural settings.
